From You
Proof of Identity (POI)
All students attending a course with us MUST bring acceptable Proof of Identity (POI). This is a Transport for NSW requirement, and you cannot complete the course without it. For example, a valid NSW Photo Drivers Licence plus a Medicare card or passport is acceptable for an adult over 16 years. POI varies for Young Adults (12 to up to 16 years) and adults (>16 years). Young Adults applicants must have POI (i.e. a Birth Certificate or Passport), and must also have a parent/guardian present who must also have acceptable POI. A school student card is NOT an accepted POI.From Us
Your Trainer
Our lead Trainer and Principal is an approved Trainer with Transport for NSW, holds a Senior First Aid Certificate and has held a boat licence for over 20 years. He has extensive experience in water safety and education, having been an award-winning surf life saver, a teacher and a university lecturer for over 30 years. He has an up to date Working with Children and Vulnerable People approval and a current National Police Check.Practical Training and Completing your Logbook
Practical boating skills are compulsory prior to being issued your boat licence.
- When undertaking our course, students must complete the practical requirement via the RMS logbook. This is to be completed with a licenced person who has held an NSW boat licence for 3 years or more. Please note – we do not currently offer on-water training sessions.
- The practical boating logbook is an easy option so you can achieve practical boating experience.
- We do not fill out your logbook for you as this is usually done on your own with a licenced person who has held a NSW boat licence for 3 or more years. This can be a friend, family member, co-worker; whoever you go boating with. For your convenience, a free digital copy of the logbook is available in your pre-course study material or at any Service NSW centre.
